About Me
Some of you may want to know something about me before or after you read what i write. Personally, i always want to know something about the person talking or writing. It also helps make blogs more personal and trustworthy. I've learned the most from people whose lives i've been able to observe up close. Asking a good question never hurts either.
I grew up in the San Fernando Valley of Southern California and i've lived pretty close to home most of my life. Los Angeles is the place to be. Living here hasn't stopped me from getting around. I've traveled to about twenty countries and hope to get to the rest before i die. Right now, my wife and i live in Simi Valley, CA where we are members of Cornerstone Community Church.
I worked for about nine years at Children's Hunger Fund where i did most of my traveling and working with churches who are caring for the poor. I traded in my relief and development hat to work in the world of higher education, which led me to Eternity Bible College where i oversee Institutional Assessment.
I love history and almost everything that can be studied throughout history. There's hardly anything that doesn't interest me. Let me know what you think of the blog if you feel inclined. Thanks for reading!
About This Blog
Some of you may be asking, “Why did you decide to write this blog, and what is it about.”
This blog is about everything i like, and a few things i don’t like. I will do my best to keep it in the realm of things good and noble and true; things that are constructive and helpful to encourage you to think and live more abundantly. One thing you can be sure of is that you will know me more for what i believe and how i live, than what i don’t believe and what i don’t do.
This should be a place of respectful dialogue and occasional debate. If you enjoy thinking about difficult issues that move you to live, then this is a place for you. If you just like to start fights and find people who think just like you, there are a lot of other very bad blogs that you can go read. I can send you the links if you like. I don’t read them, but i know who they are. If that’s why you’re here, the chances are you read them already. You may even own and operate one of them. I'd rather not get into angry debates here. There's room for disagreement and challenge. Just keep it civil and I'll try my best to do the same.
I'll focus a lot on issues related poverty, theology, orphans and children at risk, global missions, spiritual disciplines, books and reading, traveling, and culture. Let me know if there's anything that you particularly enjoy or would like for me to write about and I can consider it.
For the longer version of my reasoning behind the origination and the first title of this blog, you can read "Just in Case You Were Wondering".
Thanks for dropping by. I wish we had a fire place, some good food and a nice drink to talk through some things. The best places to meet are rarely planned, but probably more planned than we know.
